Okay, so I'm jumping the gun a little bit--today's game 3 against the Dodgers is still in the bottom of the 7th, but if I don't get some of this frustration at my Cubs out, I know I am going to explode.
Since when is it so hard to wait for the ball to get to you before you close your glove to apply the tag? (Theriot) Did Lee suddenly shrink and balls that used to land in his reach now sail over his head? (Ramirez) Is it really that hard to hang on to the damn ball? (Fukudome) Oh, and as I am writing this, is it really so hard to avoid giving up easy homerun pitches? (Zambrano!)
Like I said, there are still two full innings left to play and maybe the Cubbies will be able to pull out a come-from-behind victory like we've all seen them do this season. Maybe not. True, they came back from 9-0 but games like that are the exception, not the rule and this 7-3 deficit sure isn't anything I'd bet the bank on bouncing back from.
This road trip has been painful for Cubs fans not because they have lost a couple--that's to be expected in a sport with so many games, it's how sloppy it's all gone down.
